Where Do Your Friends and Family Fit in Your Marketing Plan?

As soon as you join network marketing, you'll almost always hear someone tell you to make a list of everyone you know, your circle of influence, and then call them to prospect them for your business. And if you've tried to do that, you know how successful that will be. So, if that's not the ticket to your success, then where do your friends and family fit into your marketing plan?

First, your friends and family are guinea pigs to help you do your presentation in front of a live audience who already knows and loves you so you can gain confidence. Invite a group of friends or close family to your house and do your presentation for them so that they will know what you're involved in and you can try out your presentation skills on them. You can also show off your products and if you sign up any new customers or get any new orders- that's a bonus.

Second, friends and family are an awesome source of referrals to people you may not know. Each person has their own circle of influence and they can direct interested people your way by talking to people about what you are doing. After you present your products or opportunity to them, you can directly ask for referrals of people they may know who might be interested. Or you can send them out to be your own referral army spreading the word about your business whenever they run across a need.

If you approach friends and family in these two ways, then the pressure is off to sell them something or sign then up in something they may have no interest in. Then they are free to go to work for you in good spirit. They don't feel negatively toward you or your business.

The best thing about friends and family is the viral nature of their referrals. People who know you can be very loyal and refer people to you years after you last spoke to them about your business. That's the way to build a long term business with your friends and family supporting you every step of the way.
